FUKT is an international magazine based in Berlin, inviting the most interesting artists and writers to present their views on contemporary drawing. It was founded 1999 in Trondheim (Norway) by Nina Hemmingsson and Bjørn Hegardt, and focuses on drawing as an independent research and artistic practice. FUKT intends to uncover the potential forces of a medium such as drawing and its possibility to reach innumerable conceptual and expressive directions. Since 2004 the visual artist Bjørn Hegardt is the sole editor of the magazine, and graphic design is made by Ariane Spanier

Fukt Magazine

FUKT is in constant transformation with all issues in different size and layout and its highly subjective and carefully selected choice of drawings includes visual, figurative, narrative, surreal, poetic and hilarious qualities. Published once a year by Revolver Publishing.

The Issue 8/9 was created during Hegardt’s residency at Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw during spring 2010. The largest so far double issue of the magazine comprises works of as many as 32 artists. The section FUKT IN FOCUS presents the work of artists invited by Björn Hegardt. In the part INVITED TO INVITE the selection was made by thirteen curators invited by the editor. Each selection from the latter part is accompanied with an essay or interview. In June and July 2010 Fukt was launched together with two curated drawing exhibitions at CCA in Warsaw and Nomas Foundation in Rome. Launches and presentations will follow at the Art Book Fair “Unter dem Motto” in Berlin (Sept. 3-6), UKS Galleri, Oslo (Sept. 2) Útúrdúr in Reykjavik (Sept. 11) Oqbo Berlin (Oct. 1) and NY Art Book Fair at PS1 in New York (Nov. 4-7).

Featuring contributions on an invitation basis from curators to artists including Pawel Olszczynski, Maciej Sienczyk, Johan Tirén, Aleksandra Waliszewska, Kathleen Henderson, Max Maddox and Grzegorz Droz. Other contributors include Sofie Berntsen, Thomas Broomé, Pola Dwurnik, Harold Fisk, Pia Fuchs (German ID of Patricia Reed), Jochen Gerner, Bjørn Hegardt, Torgeir Husevaag,  Alevtina Kakhidze, Laurent Le Deunff, Maess, Maja Nilsen, Eric Nyquist, Jeff Olsson, Leah Raintree, Matthias Reinhold, Julia Steiner, Mayura Torii, Steingrim Veum
